The rapid expansion of algorithmic management in the workplace aligns with capital’s imperative to enhance productivity and profit through the close monitoring of labor. However, contemporary algorithmic management is reshaping power asymmetries between labor and capital in new ways. This report by Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) and the Fair, Green, Global Alliance (FGG) examines how algorithms are transforming the material conditions of work on a daily basis, often resulting in unpredictable, imprecise, and ultimately precarious outcomes for workers that vary across platforms. Focusing on the ride-hailing, food delivery, urban services, and warehouse sectors, the analysis aims to uncover the logic driving algorithmic decisions in different industries and the interests they serve.
