Swept Aside
This report presents findings from interviews and focus group discussions with 93 sanitation workers—mainly from Scheduled Caste communities—across two cities. It examines the impact of contractualization, caste-based occupational segregation, poor wages, lack of social security, and unsafe working conditions. It also documents workers’ experiences, systemic gaps in data and accountability, and offers recommendations based on inputs from workers and activists.
